| Field notes | Stems solitary, acaulescent (others near houses with stems to 1.5 m tall and covered with persistent leaf bases). Petioles 177 cm long, spiny throughout with dark brown spines; blades 122 cm across, split to the base into 12 segments, the central segment petiolulate and not split. Inflorescences erect, elongate, reaching far above leaves. Leaves used to make rain coats. V.N.: "la non" |
