| Field notes | Stems clustered, 6 m long, 0.4 cm diameter. Sheaths green, with scattered brown tomentum initially, modetately covered with straight spines; ocreas 1 cm long, membranous; knees present; flagella 60 cm long; petioles absent; rachis 21 cm long with 5 pinnae per side, a basal pair, a solitary middle one, and an apical pair one, the basal ones swept back across the sheath. Inflorescences 60 cm long with 2-3 partial inflorescences; fruits globose, yellowish-white. DNA specimen. Produces a good quality cane for dying. Local name: “may chi” |
