| Field notes | Stems solitary, at least 40 m long. 2,8 cm diameter near top without sheaths, 5.5 cm diameter with sheaths. Sheaths green, not tomentose except at apex where dark reddish-brown tomentose, without spines; knees present- ocreas absent; petioles 20 cm long, spiny on margins and abaxially, adaxial surface flat, not spiny; rachis 140 cm long, sparsely spiny abaxially, with 51 pinnae per side, these regularly arranged and spreading in one plane. Infructescences inserted at apex of sheath, with 2-5 parital infructescences near base of infructescence and then a long, flagellate extension 180 cm long; bracts sparsely spiny; fruits ellipsoid, pedicellate.Said to produce a good quality cane.n.v.: “may xanh, may tu”. |
