| Field notes | Stems solitary, ca 50 m long, 2 cm diameter without sheaths, 4 cm diameter with sheaths. Sheaths green, without spines, with dark brown tomentum initially, this soon falling; knees present, with yellow stripes; ocreas obscure; flagella 5 m long; petioles 21 cm long, spiny on margins; rachis 136 cm long, without spines abaxially or with a few spines; pinnae 46 per side, regulary arranged and spreading in the same plane, with long bristles adaxially along the venis, smooth abaxially. Staminate inflorescences arching or erect, not flagellate, 170 cm long, with 8 partial inflorescences; bracts smooth, closed, tubular. Said to produce a good quality cane. v.n. “may xanh, may tu”. |
