| Field notes | Stems clustered, 15 m long, a young stem collected, 4 cm diameter with sheath. Sheaths densely covered with reddish-brown spines in short rows; petioles absent; rachis 93 cm long with 18 pinnae per side, these arranged in groups of 2-3, and spreading in different planes (leaves on taller stems with more or less regularly arranged, pendulous pinnae). Sterile plant. V.n. “song”. |
