| Field notes | Stems solitary, 6 m tall, covered with persistent leaf bases. Leaves 25; petioles 155 cm long; blades 177 cm wide with 87 segments, these split for 43 cm. Leaves on young plants completely flat, but on older plants more three dimensional. The fruits are eaten and the leaves used for thatching. An extremely common palm here, seeming to spread in disturbed areas near forest. V.n. “co”. |
