Stems clustered, 15 m long, 4,5 cm diameter with leaf shesths. sheaths with reddish-brown tomentum, densely covered with rings of black, flattened spines; knees absent; ocreas very short; petioles 41 cm long, with rings of spines as the sheaths; rachis 230 cm long with 65 pinnae per side, these regularly arranged and spreading in the same plane ( leaves of younger stems irregularly arranged in distant groups and spreading in different planes). Inflorescences elongate, to 10 m long, with distantly spaced partial inflorescences. |
