| Field notes | Stems clustered, several in the clump to 10 m long, 4.5 cm diameter with leaf sheaths. Sheaths green, densely covered with flat, yellowish-brown spines; knee present; ocreas 10 cm long, fibrous and soon falling; petioles 65 cm long; rachis 219 cm long with 36 regulary arranged pinnae per side; flagellum very long.
