| Field notes | Stems clustered, 8 m tall, 4 cm diameter with leaf sheaths. Sheaths yellowish-green, with brown tomentum, densely covered with green, black-tipped spines; knees present; ocreas present, densely black bristly; flagella present, 5 m long; petioles 25 cm long; rachis 92 cm long with 35-36 pinnae per side, regularly arranged and stiffly spreading in one plane, the apical ones very small. Inflorescences elongate, flagellate, partial inflorescences candelabra-like. v.n. “may dang”. A good quality cane, similar to that of Daemonorops poilanei. |
