| Field notes | Stems clustered, 20 m tall, 4 cm diameter. Sheaths green with brown tomentum, densely covered with flat, brown spines; knee prominent; ocreas short and obscure; pinnae almost regularly arranged. Inflorescences with bracts falling from elongating rachis; staminate flowers yellow. |
