Field notes Stems clustered, 1 m tall, 3-4 cm diameter, reddish-brown. Leaves 11; shealths 18-19 cm; petioles 95-102 cm long, with black spines at bases only; segments 17-20, more or less equally wide, the middle one not split. Inflorescences erect, shorter than the leaves, with 3 partial inflorescences. Other plants with apparently all staminate inflorescences, other plants with stems to 5 m tall and 4 partial inflorescences. DNA specimen. Leaves used to make hats. V.n. “la non”.
