Field notes Stem up to 10 m tall, 10 cm in diam, pale brown, ringed. Leaf sheath short, fibrous with remains of leaf bases. Contemporary leaves 8; petiole smooth with brownish tomentose covering, 25 cm long, rounded below, flat above with slight ridge; rachis 100 cm; pinnae dark green, sub-opposite, some not split into segments but fused. Inflorescence infrafoliar, smooth, large with 20 side branches, these branched twice. Ultimate rachillae 25 cm long. 2 large boat shaped bracts, equal in size, enclosing tightly folded and convoluted rachillae.
