| Field notes | Stem cespitose, 11.60 m tall, 13.8 cm diam, with spines on the internodes, with a mound of roots at the base 50 cm long; sheath 1 m long; petiole 50 cm long; sheath and petiole white tomentose abaxially; rachis 3.5 m long. Leaves 16; pinnae 141 per side, slightly clustered, spreading in different planes, abaxially with numrous spines. Inflorescence interfoliar; ripe fruits orange. Common name: pupunha brava |
