| Field notes | Stem solitary, 11 m tall, with a mound of roots at the base 50 cm long, 20.3 cm diam. Leaves 15; sheath 76 cm long, apex of sheaths continuos for 2 m and completily fibrous; petiole 2.34 cm long, mottled green-brown abaxially, flat and green adaxially; rachis 5.16 m long; pinnae 102-107 per side, regularly arranged and spreading in one plane, 1 m long and 6 cm wide. Pistillate plant with infructescence intrafoliar, styles persistent; eophyll pinnate. Common name: piassaba |
