| Field notes | Stem solitary, 8.50 m tall, 40 cm diam, the apex covered with persistent dead sheaths. Leaves 12; sheath 2 m long, sheath with a few thin fibres on the margin; petiole 2.2 m long, rounded below, with sharp margins; rachis 8.5 m long; pinnae 295 per side, more or less clustered, spreading in differents planes, strongly reduplicate at base, 1.4 m long at middle and 6 cm wide, slightly gray abaxially, with a small auricule. Inflorescence interfoliar, inflorescences all staminate or all pistillate; peduncular bract at least 3.3 m long; peduncle of pistillate inflorescences 1.94 m long; rachis 1.4 m long, rachillae 103, 7-13 cm long with 1-3 fruits per rachillae; staminate inflorescences with prophyll at least 70 cm long; peduncular bract at least 2.7 m long; rachis 1.60 m long; fruits more or less oblong, brownish, 13 cm long, 6.5-7 cm diam; seeds 2-3; mesocarp white, 0.5 cm diameter; endocarp 1.7 cm thick, with very small scattered fibers; the prophyll entire, elongate.
