| Field notes | Cultivated. Seeds originally collected by S. K. Yap from Megeri Sembilan Sg Mengala and sown 21.09.1982. Solitary palm, young with no stem yet, having about 20 leaves. Leaf bases and sheath fibrous, brown. Petiole ca. 2 m long, dark brown with yellow stripes longitudally, fiercely armed with long spines along the margins. Lamina divided into (2)-3-4-(5) fold compound segments by deep splits almost reaching the base. Further divided by shallower splits into singlefold segments. Each fold is split into two 2-7 cm laciniae. Radius of blade 56 cm at the outer fold and 150 at the middle fold. |
