| Field notes | Solitary palm. Height15 meters. D.b.h. 20 cm. Number of leaves 22. Petiole180 cm, totally unarmed (young plants are armed on the lower half). Lower side covered by greyish scales. The distal 60 cm of the upper side covered by scales. The mid part green the proximal 60 cm light brown. Hastula 1 cm high, 1,5 cm long and 3 cm wide. Lamina 2 x 38 segments, each with short split 5 to 10 cm long. Green, but white scales covering the sveins of the lower side. On the lower side the petiole is extending into the very thick midnerve. The following measurements are from 3 leaves, selected as representative of the variation. Leaf 1: 1st segment: 21 cm connected to the adjoining segment , 85 cm free. 6th segment: 30 cm connected to the adjoining segments, 75 cm free.13th segment: 40 cm connected to the adjoining segments, 77 cm free. 21th segment: 52 cm connected to the adjoining segments, 76 cm free. 30th segment: 70 cm connected to the adjoining segments, 75 cm free. 37th segment: 105 cm connected to the adjoining segments, 35 cm free. Leaf 2: 1st segment: 15+75, 6th segment: 42+73, 13th segment: 42+73, 21th segment: 56+72, 30th segment 80+65, 37th segment 105+35. Leaf 3: 1st segment: 24+77, 6th segment: 30+75, 13th segment 45+75, 21th segment: 75+53, 30th segment 75+63, 37th segment: 100+39. No inflorescences. Flowering said to be seasonal. Number of infructescences: 8, in different stages (some individuals had undeveloped infructescences only, so the species is probably dioecious).
