| Field notes | Young solitary palm, about 2 m tall. Stem covered with persistent leaf bases. Crown consisting of about 25 leaves. Leaf base and sheath fibrous, dark brown. Petiole green, 2.40 m long (3-4 m in some young individuals), triangular in cross section, armed along the entire margin with 2.5 cm long spines. Hastula 1.5 x 2.5 cm wide, 1.5 cm high. Blade regularly split into single fold segments, outer segment 87 cm long out of which 27 cm is connected to the neighbouring segment; the midblade segment is 123 cm long out of which 102 is connected to the neighbouring segments. (The specimen AD1 is taken from another individual in the same population and has been used for DNA sequencing. The herbarium material for this individual has been lost or is still in the herbarium of Hat Yai. It resembles AD2 very closely) Infructescence found beneath tall individual of the same population as AD2. No profhyll left. 5 partial inflorescences, basal one 52 cm long, rachis bract of the basal one 68 cm. Fruits collected from the ground below this tall individual |
