Field notes Terrestrial shrub 2.6-3.8 m tall, rhizome short creeping, cluster, short petiole; base white, sheath green glabrous; ligule bilobed pale green; lamina 45 x 8.5 cm, green glabrous above, beneath pale green; infructescense green, brown persisting calyx; penduncle 10-12 cm; inflorescense dorsal and lateral petals, pale yellow, labellum tunnel-like, yellow with red stripes forming into the lateral lobe, crest white, frontal lobe of labellum within style. Vernacular name: Bareng-bafu. The flesh inside the sheath is scraped and drank after straining to treat colds & flu, stomachache, headache. (Spirit Material).
