| Field notes | Terrestrial herb in dense clump. Leafy shoot to 4.3 m long. Base to 7 cm diam. Sheath yellow-green or drying brown. Ligule 1-1.5 cm long. Petiole 3-5 cm long, ± winged. Lamina to 110 x 22 cm. Inflorescence terminal, 60-80 cm long, bract to 36 cm long, dry, brown. Spike to 20-35 cm x 4 cm, with yellow-green axis. Female flowers only: bracteole dead, brown; calyx pale yellow-green; corolla pale brownish green or reddish brown. Labellum pale yellowish green. Stamen white; theca red beneath. Material in spirit. |
