| Field notes | Terrestial herb. Leafy shoots to 30 cm apart, forming dense clump at roadside, to 1.8 mlong. Base to 3 cm diam., pale red. Sheath yellow-green. Ligule to 5.5 cm long, membranous, caducous. Lamina sessile, to 46 x 9 cm, plicate. Inflorescnce terminal, erect, to 17 cm long, with 17-25 flowers. Bracts yellow-green. Bracteole membranous, pale yellow-green. Calyx pale yellow-green. Corolla tube very pale orange; lobes yellow. Staminoide and labellum white, pale red in centre at base. Stamen reddish. Stigma green. Fruit orange. Seed with red aril. Vernacular name: konarum (Minahassa South language). No use informed. Probably an escaped garden plant. |
