| Field notes | Terrestrial herb in dense clump. Leafy shoot to 1. 3 m long. Base to 2 cm diam. , bright red when young. Sheath pale green when young, drying orange-brown. Ligule 1.4 cm long, membranous, brown. Petiole to 2 cm long. Lamina to 53 x 4 cm, pubescent beneath. Inflorescence subterminal by up to 1 7 cm, ± perpendicular to the pseudostem, 10 cm long, axis pale green. Bracteole brown. Flower pale green, stamen green towards apex. Fruit to 2.5 x 2.2 cm, shiny brown to pink, ridged longitudinally. Deposited at: AAU, BO, CEB, E, SING. Photographed. Material in spirit. |
