| Field notes | Terrestial herb. Leafy shoots to c. 20 cm apart, to 6.5 m long. Base to 5.5 cm diam., reddish brown. Sheath yellowish green. Infrutescence just above the ground, with 18-46 fruits, peduncle subterranean, bracts reddish brown, fruit pale orange-brown. Taste of the centre of leaf base: hot peppery. Material in spirit. DNA sampled. |
