| Field notes | Terrestial herb. Rhizome +/- lifted by stilroots, slender (< 5 mm diam.), rigid, red when young. Leafy shoots to 1.5 m long, 35-45 cm between neighbouring shoots, arching. Sheath glabrous, dark reddish brown, cane-like. Ligule to 1 mm long. Petiole to 2.5 cm long. Lamina to 18x6 cm, bullate, dark green above, beneath pale green; base cordate; drip tip 3 cm long. Inflorescnce from rhizome, to 8.5 cm long. Peduncle to 5 cm long. Spike to 4x2 cm. Peduncular bracts cream to pale brownish green. Fertile bracts similar. Bracteole cream. Calyx cream slightly pale red in upper part. Corolla tube cream, lobes cream with pale red apex. Staminal tube cream. Labellum white with pink margin. Stamen and stigma white. Infrutescence with 1-2 fruits. Fruit 13x17 mm, papillose, pale creamish to pale brown. Also seen at Sg. Salunua Waterfall at 500 melevation (2°20'29.3''S;120°48'7.5''E). |
