| Field notes | Terrestrial herb. Leafy shoots to 4.2 m long, to 18 cm apart. Base to 5 cm diam., brown. Sheath yellow-green. Ligule to 5 mm long, dark purple. Lamina to 43 x 12 cm. Inflorescence terminal, erect, to 36 cm long, axis yellowish green. Bracts to 4 cm long, white, persistent, sometimes tinged pale pink at base. Bracteole pale pink, almost white. Ovary green. Corolla white, lobes tinged pink. Labellum white. Stamen pale pink. Stigma white. Fruit 1.1 x 1.5 cm, green when mature. Seeds brown. |
