| Field notes | Terrestial herb in dense clump. Leafy shoot 1.1 m long. Base of leafy shoot to 2 cm diam. Sheath pale green. Ligule to 5 mm long, with basal callus. Lamina to 22 x 3.5 cm. Inflorescence terminal, erect, to 8 x 2.5 cm, with 1 basal branch. Rachis, bracteole, calyx dark burgundy red. Corolla plain white except for apex of dorsal lobe being dark red. Stamen white. Stigma dark red. Vernacular name: frag (Kalam language). |
