| Field notes | Terrestial herb in clump (to 5 cm between neighbouring leafy shoots), slightly raised on stilts. Leafy shoot to 2.8 m long. Base of leafy shoot to 2.5 cm diam. Sheath dark green. Ligule and apex of sheath swollen. Lamina to 42 x 9.5 cm. Inflorescence terminal, capitate. Flower plain red, calyx apices filiforme. LAbellum, stamen and stigma white. Fruit reddish. |
