| Field notes | Terrestial herb in loose clump (7-15 cm between neighbouring shoots). Leafy shoot to 4.5 m long. Base of leafy shoot to 6 cm diam., green. Sheath yellwoish green. Ligule to 10 mm long. Petiole to 15 mm long. Lamina to 60 x 15 cm. Inflorescence from rhizome. Peduncle 7-8 cm long. Scales cream or brown; upper enclosing base of spike. Spike to 6-3.5 cm (bracts only); flowers extending 1.5-2 cm above. fertile bract pale yellow-green. Bracteole plae greenish to cream. Calyx cream at base - pale yellow-green at apex. Ovary golden pubescent. Corolla tube white, lobes pale yellow-green. Labellum white, margin tinged pink, centre pale yellow-green. Stamen and stigma cream. Infrutescence 7 x 5 cm (not including persistent calyces). Pedicel 9 mm long. Fruit 18 x 18 mm, green to orange when ripe, spiny. Aril white.
