Field notes Terrestial herb. 5-13 cm between neighbouring leafy shoots. Leafy shoot to 2.3 m long. Base of leafy shoot to 3 cm diam., red. Sheath greenish brown. Ligule to 2 mm long, bilobed. Lamina sessile, to 52x6 cm, mid-green above; beneath pale green, pubescent; base acute; apex to 4 cm long. Inflorescence from rhizome, with 20 flowers, at soil level: Peduncle to 10 cm long, scales cream to reddish brown. Bracteole dark reddish brown. Calyx pale green, apex dark brown. Corolla white, lobes pale reddish brown at apex. Labellum white, apex pale pink, centre white. Stamen and stigma white. Infrutescence with 15-18 fruits. Head capitate, 4x4 cm, reddish. Fruit round, c. 13 mm diam., pale green in lower half; upper half reddish with scattered spines. Photographed. Material in spirit. DNA sampled.
