Field notes Terrestrial herb in dense clump of 5-6 shoots. Leafy shoot to 1.3 m long. Base of leafy shoot to 12 mm diam., reddish. Sheath pale green. Ligule 1.5 mm long, bilobed, brown. Petiole to 15 mm long. Lamina to 29 x 3 cm, mid-green. Inflorescence terminal, erect to pending. Bracts pale green at base, brown at apex. Spike 13-23(-33 in infrutescence) cm long; axis pale green. Pedicel greenish brown. bracteole red when young - brown when old. BISEXUAL flowers flower first: bracteole and calyx red. Corolla lobes pinkish. Labellum yellow. Ovary greenish brown. Stigma white. Bud pink. MALE flowers: calyx pale pink. Corolla tube and lobes cream to pale pink. Labellum and stamen yellow. Infrutescence pendent. Fruit to 4 x 1.5 cm, pyriform, pendent, reddish brown when young, orange when mature. Material in spirit.
