| Field notes | Terrestial herb. Rhizome slender (to 9 mm diam.), long creeping (40 cm or more between neighbouring shoots). Leafy shoot to 1.8 m long. Base to 2 cm diam., reddish brown. Sheath pale green, glabrous. Ligule to 3 mm long, entire, purple-brown. Petiole to 3 mm long. Lamina to 24 x 5.2 cm, mid-green, not plicate. Inflorescence from rhizome, peduncle below leaf litter, to 8 cm long, scales drying brown. Old spike c. 3 x 2 cm (dead). Infrutescence 3.5 x 4 cm, with 1-11 fruits. Fruit pedicelate 13 mm, 1.5 x 2 cm, soft-spiny, cream to pale green, immature. Material in spirit. DNA sampled. |
