| Field notes | Terrestial herb to 2 m, in loose clump (c. 10 cm between shoots). Leafy shoot with up to 10 leaves. Base of leafy shoot 4-5 cm diam. Sheath pale green to brownish pubescent fresh. Ligule 8 mm long, bilobed. Petiole 0-25 mm long. Lamina 60 x 20 cm, narrowly obovate to elliptic. Inflorescence terminal, erect to 15 cm long. Bracts pale yellowish green. rachis, pedicel and ovary pale red. Calyx and corolla white. LAbellum pale red with dark red centre bordered by 2 yellow-green bands. Staminoides dark red in lower 2/3 - pale red in upper 1/3. Stamen pale red, anther crest red. Stigma white. fruit dark red when mature. |
