| Field notes | Terrestial herb, 2.5 m long, in dense clump (c. 10 cm between neighbouring shoots). Base c. 2.5 cm diam., cream to pale red. Sheath green. Ligule to 5 mm long, green. Lamina to 45 x 12 cm, sessile, slightly plicate. Young leaf tinged red beneath. Inflorescence globose, erect. Bracts mucronate, pale green (rarely reddish). Flowers plain white. Also observed at 400 m elevation. |
