| Field notes | Terrestial herb to 4.3 m high, in dense clump (6-21 cm between neighbouring shoots). Leafy shoot erect. Base to 4.5 cm diam., green. Sheath green. Ligule to 9 mm long, entire, pale brown. Petiole to 1 cm. Lamina to 58 x 16 cm, plicate. Inflorescence terminal, pendulous, to 40 cm long, cincinni well-sapced. Bracts pale reddish or pale green. Calyx and flowers white, upside-down. Fruit red or cream, globose, 3 x 2.5 cm, calyx persistent. |
