| Field notes | Terrestial herb to 3.5 m tall, in dense clump (to 15 cm between neighbouring shoots). Leafy shoot to 4.7 m long, arcjing. Base 3-4 cm diam., pale brown. Sheath pale brown. Ligule to 8 mm long, pale green, pubescent. Lamina to 60 x 13.5 cm, slightly plicate. Inflorescence radical, erect, to 2 cm long. Spike 10-11 x 2.5-3 cm. Bract red, cream in centre. fertile bract memnranous, cream to pinkish in upper half. Calyx membranous cream to pinkish. Corolla tube white, dark pink at apex and lobes. Labellum pink, margin inrolled, white. Stamen cream, slightly pink at apex. Stigma pale pink. Fruit 3 x 1.2 cm, yellowish. Seeds blak. Material in spirit. DNA sampled. |
