| Field notes | Terrestial herb. Rhizome short - creeping (5-10 cm between neighbouring shoots), to 15 mm diam., cream with brown scales. Leafy shoot to 1.5 mm. Base 17 mm diam., cream to brownish green-red when young. 12-17 leaves per shoot. Sheath green-yellowish green in upper part. Ligule 3 mm long, bilobed. Petiole to 5 mm long. Lamina to 27 x 6.5 cm, slightly plicate, narrowly ovate, base rounded, apex long-acuminate (to 4 cm). Infrutescence radical, to 16 cm, upper part erect above ground. Peduncle to 11 cm long. Spike 3 x 2 cm, with 1-7 fruits. Fruit to 4 x 2 cm. Pedicel reddish. Fruit reddish brown with 3 longitudinal, yellow-green grooves. Seeds green but seems mature. |
