| Field notes | Terrestrial herb 1.1 m. Rhizome orange when cut. 3 cataphylls and 3 leaves per shoot. Sheath and petiole pale green. Petiole to 33 cm, canaliculate. Lamina to 55 x 17 cm, narrowly obovate, plicate mid-green. Inflorescence terminal, to 40 cm. Spike to 16 x 11 cm. Bracts pale green. Coma pale green, white in centre. Flowers pale yellow; labellum with darker centre, apex emarginate. Vernacular name: lai persesen (Titan language meaning "yellow ginger"; rhizome cleaned and mixed with coconut for soups and curries). |
