Field notes Terrestial herb to 3 m tall, in clump. Leafy shoot to 3.5 m, young shoot reddish. Sheath pale green. Ligule 8 mm long, entire, pale brown, pubescent. Lamina sessile, 60 x 14 cm, narrowly elliptic, plicate. Inflorescence terminal, erect, spike 13 x 6 cm. Bract pale green. Flowers white. Fruit 2.5-3 x 2-2.5 cm, globose, cream, protruding. Vernacular name: punu (Nali language; used for roofing the apex of the roof and climbing coconut palms).
