| Field notes | Terrestial herb to 6.5 cm diam. Main stem 3-3.5 m with 5-6 branches c. 3 m long, erect. Inflorescence appearing at the top of main stem, to 28 cm long, erect; peduncle c. 7 cm long. Bracts dark purple. Flowers yellow, tinged orange at apex. Vernacular name: kokomits (Birau language; informant from Guadalcanal); toatoa (Bambatan language informed by Miori Sualalu from NW Choiseul). Material in spirit. DNA sampled. |
