| Field notes | Terrestial herb, to 5 m tall, in clump (10-15 cm between neighbouring shoots). Base to 7 cm diam., subglobose. Lamina to 70 x 19 cm. Inflorescenc radical, erect. Bracts red, white and tesselate pattern in centre, apeces spreading. Flower cream. Corolla lobes pale pink. vernacular name: buru (Birau language, informant from Guadalcanal); gioh (Bambatan language informed by Miori Sualalu from NW Choiseul). Material in spirit. DNA sampled. |
