Field notes Terrestial herb, to 4 m tall, in clump. Base to 5 cm diam. Sheath green. Ligule to 13 mm long, yellow-green. Petiole to 2 cm. Lamina sessile, 63 x 14 cm, slightly plicate. Inflorescence pendulous, to 18 cm, bracts and calyx pale green. Flower white. Fruit globular, whitish green. Vernacular name: karo (Birau language, informant from Guadalcanl); pipirò (Bambatan language informed by Miori Sualalu from NW Choiseul).
