Field notes Terrestial herb to c. 3 m tall, in loose clump (< 10 cm between neighbouring shoots). Base to 6 cm diam., green. Sheath green. Ligule 8 mm long, green. Lamina sessile, 55 x 16 cm. Infrutescence terminal, pendulous. Peduncle 10 cm. Spike 35 cm long. Fruit 1.8 cm long, elongate, orange-red, opening in 3 valves. Seeds black. Vernacular name: bubumera (Bauro language; mera means red). DNA sampled.
