| Field notes | Terrestial herb to 3.5 m tall. Leafy shoots c. 10 cm apart. Base 4-5 cm diam., brown. Sheath green. Ligule to 13 mm long, green. Petiole to 16 mm. Lamina to 67 x 17 cm, mid-green, -/+ smooth. Inflorescence radical, to 15 cm, erect. Bracts cream and pubescent in centre, margin dark red. Flowersred. Fruit pale red. Vernacular name: karikari (Bauro language). Fruit delicious to eat. Material in spirit. DNA sampled. |
