| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 5 m. Leafy shoots with up to 26 leaves, in loose clump (15 cm between shoots); base to 4.5 cm diam. Ligule to 13 mm, dark purple. Lamina to 58 x 14 cm, dark green, pale beneath. Inflorescence to 85 cm, slender, erect. Peduncle 6-8 mm diam., pale brown. Spike to 14 x 2.31 cm. Bracts reddish drying pale brown. Fertile bract membranous, cream. Calyx membranous, pale pink. Corolla lobes red. Labellum red with thin white margin. Anther white. Stigma pale red. Deposited at BO, E, L. Material in spirit.
