| Field notes | Terrestrial herb 3-8 m. Leafy shoot up to 45 cm apart (rhizome moderately creeping), with 22-36 leaves. Base 5-10 cm diam., brownish, taste and smell of aniseed. Sheath greenish. Ligule to 22 mm. Petiole to 4 (4.3) cm. Lamina 80-97 x 20-21 cm, pubescent beneath. Inflorescence from base, 19 cm long, with 11-18 flowers, 2-4 flowers open at a time. Peduncle 9 cm long. Bracteal part of spike 6 x 3 cm. Bracts cream, tinged reddish. Fertile bract and bracteole membranous, cream. Calyx and corolla lobes pale red. Labellum red with yellow margin especially on lateral lobes. Stamen red with dark rim at apex. Stigma red. Deposited at: AAU, BO, E, Andalas University. Material in spirit. Photographed.
