| Field notes | Terrestrial herb in dense clump. Stilt roots to 60 cm. Leafy shoot 3.5 m. Base of leafy shoot reddish brown, densely tomentose when young. Inflorescence densely hairy, pale brown with dark brown markings. Corolla lobes burgundy red. Labellum pink with white margin. Anther dark purple with white margin. Vernacular name: tawis (Mandailing language). Fruit edible. Deposited at: AAU, BO, E. Material in spirit. Photographed. DNA sampled. |
