| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 1.5 m, 1-3 leafy shoots in clump. Leaf plain green, plicate, pubescent beneath. Inflorescence terminal, erect, to 20 cm. Rachis mottled pale purple, white at apex. Corolla lobe dark purple. Staminodes and labellum pale orange. Anther pale orange with 2 white appendages. Young fruit pale green. Vernacular name: sitomtom ulu (Mandailing language). Fruit edible.
