| Field notes | Terrestrial herb to 5 m. Leafy shoots in a loose clump (c. 40 cm between shoots). Sheath pale brown, waxy and completely white when young. Ligule c. 1.2 cm. Petiole 5 cm. Lamina 60 x 20 cm, slightly plicate. Base extremely auriculate with overlapping lobes. Inflorescence from rhizome with c. 40 flowers. Peduncle 14-24 cm. Spike 7 x 6 cm. Bracts cream, waxy, tinged pink with narrow red margin. Bracteole, calyx and corolla tube white. Dorsal corolla lobe cherry-red; lateral pale red. Labellum cherry-red, with a cream patch on the lateral lobes, central lobe with cream lines and margin with 6-7 lobules. Staminodes cherry-red with cream margin. Filament cream with red dots. Anther cream, crest red. Stigma cream. Infructescence to 14 x 13 cm. Fruit globose, c. 3.5 cm, yellowish brown. Deposited at: AAU, BO, E, Andalas University. Material in spirit. Photographed.
