| Field notes | Terrestrial herb in loose clump, to 4 m. Stilt-rooted. Sheath green to purple towards top. Lamina to 60 x 14 cm, plain green, pale beneath. Inflorescence near base of leafy shoot, 22 cm long; peduncle 12 cm long; spike 10 x 4.5 cm; bracts cream to pale pink, shiny in upper part, margin red. Fertile bract membranous, cream; bracteole and calyx short, membranous, pink at apex; corolla cream at base, red at apex, lobes purple with white apex; labellum purple at apex with cream margin and lateral lobes; stamen black; fruit white.
