| Field notes | Terrestrial herb, c. 2 m, in loose clump (6 cm between shoots) with 7-9 leaves. Base 2-3 cm across, pale red. Sheath shiny, yellow-green, sometimes red at top of leafy shoot. Ligule 3-4 mm, ± purplish. Petiole to 8 cm at uppermost leaf; lowest small leaf sessile. Lamina to 70 x 16 or 90 x 12 cm, dark green, shiny, widely spaced, raised veins, glabrous, below silvery; Apex long acuminate, 2.5 cm.
